I like this image the color sticks out. I also like that there is words that stand out that are bigger. It also has a phase on the glasses. i feel that her face expression is great it makes the image a excellent . It focused on the face but it also includes style in the image.The out line words have a darker color the inside is a light color that blends in. The words are descriptive.

This image is in a different language. It a beautiful image shot. The personality seems that this person is more of a relaxed person. I like how theres only words on the face then the rose and hand they black out the extra stuff. I feel that they did it to focus in the image and not so much on the background.

I like how the colors all mix together perfectly. I like the lip color and how the eyebrow and eye color stick out. The way the hair done with the letters is very creative. It also mainly focus on the face and her hair. They black out the background. I thing that it would have better to site descriptive words rather then just letters.

Artist Statement

Art is a great way to express yourself and show who you are. People have different ways to express their self, art is a very common way for people to express what they feel. Their is different types of art, some can be visual, others can be acted, and others can be heard. I expressed myself in taking a picture of what my home town represents me.

The picture I choose is from my neighborhood in which I grew up. I grew up playing baseball and still currently do. The picture is a baseball park where I had played most of my games. I call it "Home On Dirt". It was made in Illustrator. The dimensions I used is 8x12. I choose this because this is what represents my home. I got my inspiration throughout my whole life, loving baseball since day 1. My ideas were incorporated by picking that picture.

I used different elements in my project. I used lines to show the borders of my project. I also used texture to show how the cloud changes in colors. I used space in the sky also. The principles I used was Balance, to balance out all colors. I also used rhythm so all my colors were relevant to each other. The message I incorporated was what baseball meant to me, show that it was a happy times I had.

I loved working on this piece because I love baseball. I believe its high quality work. I spent about 3 full hours working on my project. This is a successful work of art because I am Satisfied with it. This shows who I am. Overall Art is a great way to express yourself and explore different points of views and discover new things. Each persons art is different. Mine is mine.

Semester Reflection

1) Reflect on your final grade in this class. What will you do to either keep the grade you received or how will you genuinely work to improve your grade in this class? (minimum of 5 sentence reflection).

I will continue to do all my work. In the past semester I did all the work that was assigned. I even did the big project to the best of my ability. I contributed the most i could but could only do so much. This semester I will continue to do what I did last semester to have a good grade outcome.

2) What was your favorite project this past semester and why? What was your least favorite project and why?(minimum of 5 sentence reflection).

My favorite project was the one that we did on occupy wall street. It was about a big movement going around the world which we got to film and make a documentary about. My least favorite project was the Picasso self portrait project. I felt like even if we were satisfied with it, Ms ruiz wasn't because it didn't look like "Picasso". I hope to do more projects this semester.

3) How has your senior year been so far? Are you working towards your goals of graduating? If yes, what are you doing to making sure you stay on track? If no, what has been stopping you from reaching the goal of graduating?(minimum of 5 sentence reflection).

My senior year has been great with awesome adventures. I will graduate without a lot of effort needed. i am doing all my work to stay on track and lest absences. Nothing has been stoping me.

4) What are you looking forward to most about graduating high school? (minimum of 5 sentence reflection).

The biggest thing I'm looking forward to graduating high school is not waking up everyday at Seven to get ready. I can now pick my own schedule for college. I can also get a job in the mornings to get spending money for my necceites. I can now finally start my life. The next goal would be graduating college.

When I was a young kid, ever since I was 6 years old. Baseball was my favorite sport, I would play it every day. Baseball is still currently my favorite sport and passion. I remember everyday going to practice and loving the small of fresh cut grass and the smell of the dirt mixed with your over used baseball glove. When game day would come, it would be the best feeling. Saturday games were really packed with all your family members coming to see you play. You never wanted to disappoint them so you would try your best. I would have an amazing bond with my team which was the same for three years straight. Our home baseball field was awsome, it was always clean cut and a blast to play on.

My Future with baseball is looking pretty good. I always seem to go back to my home field in Hayward, just sometimes to play catch and remember all the good games that were played their, and championships we played. All my family knows that field pretty good in which i spent a majority of my week and weekends their playing. My family even grew close to that field.

The best memory of Sorensdale park. Was a TOC game i played which was the semi final game. All my family was their to support me they knew the significance of the game. The magnitude was immense. I hit the winning hit to bring in my fellow team mate. I was in the newspaper after that game. All my team was in it too. My parents were so proud of me being in the newspaper. We ended up going to the championship but loosing 1 to 0 in a hard defeat. But all my great memories spent on that field were great.

I am the 99%, and so are you. My parents have a college degree and can't seem to find a stable job in this economy. A movement is taking place all round the world. This movement is known as "occupy". I live in hayward and the nearest one is in Oakland, Ca at the moment. People are protesting for a better economy, and more jobs. Most have financial problems. Americans are trying to get out of debt, and cant even find a job to make ends meat. Most americans rely on un employment funds known as EDD. EDD doesn't see the necessity of money flow in our economy for non-employed Americans. There a big increase in college applications to state colleges being more affordable. The movement was caused to by the government, and the americans took action to make their economy better, and growing in participants.

Documentary Film Note Outline:

I . History of Documentary Film

A. Pre-1900-The early documentary was a simple one shot captured in film. They will be simple things like workers leaving the factory, a boat leaving and a train leaving the station. Theses kind of films are called "actuality" films.

B. 1900–1920- Travelogue films were very popular in the early 20th century.They had early color movies. It was important for early films to move beyond the concept of scenic.

C. 1920s

1) Romanticism-

Flaherty filmed a number of heavily staged romantic films during this time period. Often showing how his subjects would have lived 100 years earlier and not how they lived right then. For example the films will tell you how a gun was made and how to shoot it from back in the day

2)The city symphony- These kind of of documentaries showed the human ways. They show how humans live and how they react. They also had videos shown a man made way of life.

3) Kino-Pravda- Kino-pravda means "cinematic truth". These had varied lenses, shot-counter shot editing, time lapse,ability to slow motion, stop motion and fast-motion. This can render reality more accurately than the human eye.

4) Newsreel tradition-

The newsreel tradition is important in documentary film. Newsreels were also sometimes staged but were usually re-enactments of events that had already happened, not attempts to steer events as they were in the process of happening.They much of the battle footage from the early 20th century was staged. The cameramen would usually arrive on site after a major battle and re-enact scenes to film them.

D. 1920s–1940s-

The propagandist tradition consists of films made with the explicit purpose of persuading an audience of a point. One of the most notorious propaganda films is Leni Riefenstahl's film, which chronicled the 1934 Nazi Party Congress and was commissioned by Hitler.

E. 1950s–1970s

1) Cinéma-vérité-

This was dependent on some technical advances in order to exist: light, quiet and reliable cameras, and portable sync sound. Shooting on location, with smaller crews. The filmmakers taking advantage of advances in technology allowing smaller, handheld cameras and synchronized sound to film events on location as they unfolded.

2) Political weapons-

In the 1960s and 1970s, documentary film was often conceived as a political weapon. Among the many political documentaries early 1970s; "Chile: A Special Report," a public television's first in depth expository look of the September 1973 overthrow of the legitimate Salvador Allende, Chilean government by the Pinochet armed forces, who ruled by terror.

3) Modern documentaries-

Dramatic narrative films, documentaries typically have far lower budgets which makes them attractive to film companies because even a limited theatrical release can be highly profitable.The nature of documentary films has expanded in the past 20 years from the cinema verité style introduced in the 1960s in which the use of portable camera and sound equipment allowed an intimate relationship between filmmaker and subject

Asssingment #6 Pablo Picasso Cubist Painting

Me With a Twist

My Picasso painting is called “Light Shadow”. My main influence on my painting was the color Picasso used. He influenced me to show the significance in my painting, which was light and dark. Picasso used different colors in different era paintings. I wanted my painting to look like Picasso’s are in a way, but yet somehow have my own taste and incorporation in it. In my work of art i used Line, Color, and shape. My biggest incorporation was my face, yet i made it look like a Picasso self portrait.

To create my artwork I worked in the multi media medium. It was as self portrait of myself, in which i took a picture of myself and uploaded it to photo shop. Then I warped and painted my portrait to make it look like a Picasso painting. The assignment was to create a self portrait of yourself, but to make it look like if Picasso had painted it in one of his era’s. I made it look a lot like his cubism period in which Picasso made most of his art work with shapes.

I used Value in my Picasso self portrait painting, on the left side of painting i put very light colors and bright, then to my right side i put dark colors to show the nice and mean side of me. I also used lines to show the edges and where things ended on my portrait. I mostly used it around my face and half of my body. I also used color to show the lightness of my portrait and significance in it. The final element of design i used was shape to resemble to Picasso’s cubism period.

In my portrait I wanted to show two sides of my self, but yet still incorporate Picasso’ style in my painting. On the left side of the painting I put light lines and light color painting on the left side of my face. I put to show how happy i can be, and also nice. On the right side of my face i used dark colors and no lines to show the mean and sad part of me. Overall I used a happy and sad emotions.

Of all the portraits i have made of myself, I believe this portrait was my most successful. It really looks like a Picasso painting. If i could do something to improve, I would take more time in studying Picasso art work to be on point.
